Aims and Ways

New Years resolutions have a tendency to lapse and fall by the wayside. Everyone knows this, yet every January we vow unteneble things, generally directed to weight loss or other forms of self-improvement. Last year, I resolved to read 52 books in 52 weeks, and although I am a great reader, life inevitably got in the way and by the sixth week I was two books behind. I approached 2008 with moderation and instead aimed to blog books. No time limit, no aim other than to read as much as possible, as critically as possible, and to discuss as much as possible. The blog is to discuss books, social culture relating to literature, news, publishing, all related things. Even the various exploits of the two book clubs to which I belong — Bookface and the as-yet-unnamed non-fiction book club — are fair game.
